Early Life/Splatoon 2
Like every octoling living in the Octarian Domes, Acht was required to attend military school from an early age. Unlike most octolings living in the Octarian Domes, Acht would often slack off and skip classes. Despite their disinterest in joining the front lines they managed to become friends with Marina Ida, an ace student who would go on to become a high ranking member of Octavio's army, due to their shared interest in music. When they graduated, Acht got work as behind the scenes security detail. They weren't on the front lines, so they were okay with their lot in life.
Then came the day everyone heard the Calamari Inkantation during the climatic battle between Agent 3 and DJ Octavio. Then Marina suddenly left without warning. The Octarian Domes were thrown into chaos, forcing Acht to take shelter in the lowest parts of the base where the brass would never find them. With nothing more to do than make music, they became a DJ for an unnamed club down there. They became really good at spinning tracks, getting familiar with all sorts of musical tracks, to the point where music was all they could think about...
Actually, that might not have been obsession by the end of that period.
See, Acht doesn't fully remember what happened to them, but it's said they came to the Deepsea Metro in persuit of "breakbeat perfection." Allegedly they allowed the Kamabo Corporation to sanitize them, but Acht themselves recalls they were drained of their free will and forced to DJ for the company. Either way, Acht spent five years as a shell of their former self, mindlessly making music in the halls of a shady research facility. They think they heard someone's voice down there, but... Side Order/Splatoon 3
One day, Acht found themselves in a strange place. Like Inkopolis Square, but desolate and white. They must have regained memories of their past life when they woke up, because they could recognize the voice of their old friend crying for help at the top of a tower. They tried to race up there and help, but without a proper way to defend themselves they were ambushed by the "Jellytons" roaming around and took an injury to the arm. They had to seek shelter in the tower's elevator and wait for whatever backup there may be, so they took the time to pull data about the strange place from the elevator's console.
This gave them plenty of information to pass on when Eight and a drone-ifyed Pearl Houzuki showed up. After helping them find and save Marina Ida from the control of a machine, they are confronted by a virtual being calling itself "Order" that declares it shall establish a world of pure order before kicking everyone out of the tower.
Turns out Acht and the others got sucked into the Memverse, a virtual reality Marina had been programming in an effort to help sanitized victims of Kamabo Corp. regain their memories. The "Order" being has hijacked the Memverse, taking advantage of a security exploit and sucking people's minds into the system. If this went unchecked, it would eventually remove the free will of everyone in the world.... But Eight, Pearl and Marina aren't gonna stand by and let it happen. Together, the group goes to ascend the tower once more to take Order down.
It takes several runs before the gang ascends high enough. Acht does their part by manning the elevator controls, making sure it doesn't go anywhere while Eight and Pearl were busy clearing floors. See, the elevator only went up one floor at a time, and there's an objective to complete on every floor. Completing objectives earns color chips, which go into a "pallette" to improve the user's weapon. According to Marina's diaries, this was supposed to be a means to return memories to people's souls?
